Message: 1978 jeep wagoneer. In the last 3 years I have done a full mechanical resto-mod. Jeep was rusty when I got it. New floors, inner and outer rockers were fabricated. New rear 1/4 skins, inners were rebuilt. Drop offs fabricated. rear wheel wells stretched so tires can stuff. Rear power window works. Manual windows on doors. I built it as a trail, camping, and fishing truck. mostly what I have used it for. It still has original paint, with some dents and scratches. this was a quadratrac truck, like most from the 70s. the qt isn’t bad its full time, which is kind of cool, if that’s what your into. but quality replacement parts are becoming an issue. gas mileage never topped 10mpg. the chain became loose and was starting to “jump”. I wasn’t about to by a 300$ Chinese chain that people were getting 5-10,000 miles out of. I like to drive my vehicles anywhere I feel like it, so the QT really wasn’t for me. I spent a fortune converting over to an 89 700r4 chevy truck trans and adapting a gear drive cj dana 300 case to that. had to be regeared to take advantage of the overdrive. its a pretty nice setup, I have taken it on a few 4-500 miles camping trips. cruises nice on the highway. will cruise as fast as you dare. I have seen as much as 16 mpg. 21,000 miles on jasper 360 Less than 5,000 miles on 4″ full spring lift and 33×10.50 km2. Spare is 1 year old never hit the road. Less than 2,000 miles on the following, rebuilt 700r4 Chevy truck trans. New converter, advance adapters block adapter. Jb conversions adapter to adapt a gear drive dana 300 transfer case Jb fab twin stick 2 new tatton’s driveshafts with spicer joints Fully rebuilt axles bearings, seals, warn hubs, spicer balljoints and universals 4.10s Yukon air zip locker in rear dana 44 Ruffstuff front cover Edelbrock performer intake and rebuilt holley 600 Front bench seat rebuilt last winter All new window lift bars York on board air plumbed with 1/2″ hydraulic hose, 4″ pipe air tank rear bumper with tire swing out. Fabricated full length roof rack h4 headlight upgrade with relays new battery.
It currently is serving as my daily driver, until I get something else. I have taken it into nyc a few times this winter with these storms and such. No problem starting on the coldest days.
