I’ve been extremely lucky to have owned one of my dream vehicles. I now want someone else to have the same opportunity.
For sale is a garage-kept 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. This wagon has been my daily driver for the past 10 years, usually only driving it on average of 15 miles a week.
Starts up every morning without issue. If I don’t drive it for 2 weeks and go to start it, it starts up just the same. Engine idles great, runs smooth and runs cool (radiator was replaced 2 years ago.) I’ve driven it to Tampa and back at least a half dozen times over the past 3 years and have no issues at 80mph down I-75.
Because it’s been garage-kept, the woodgrain vinyl is in terrific shape and not faded. The metallic nutmeg paint was repainted about 15 years ago and is in good shape, but has a few spots where it looks like the clear coat is starting to give way.
No dents or dings. The only rust consists of two small spots in the lower rear quarter panels on both the driver and passenger side. It also has the original trailer hitch (the trailer hitch ball is included.)
At 100,000 miles the block was replaced. It needs a new speedometer cable as it started malfunctioning and gave out with the odometer at 172,000. Based on how little miles I put on it, I’d estimate that the new block has 80,000 miles on it. Before the speedometer cable gave out, the cruise control worked swimmingly.
A/C has been converted and compressor blows cold but it needs the expansion valve replaced.
I’ve changed or replaced or had replaced every component under the hood since I’ve owned it with the exception of the engine block and carb. That includes the exhaust manifolds and transmission, the latter or which we pulled from a parts vehicle and installed two years ago. Has a new battery (purchased last week), new starter, new ignition coil, and new tires (less than 200 miles on ’em). It also has an alarm w/ keyless entry.
I haven’t completed restoring the interior but have all of the parts. The dash is conditioned and has no cracks at all and the steering wheel is like brand new. I have a new carpet set and kick panels (both included) and the headliner needs replacing. Both electric seats work and all 4 of the electric door motors work (as well as the tailgate window motor) but 3 of the doors need new flex tracks installed ($10.99 a piece at Team Grand Wagoneer) and the rear tailgate window needs a new lifter arm (part has been powder-coated and is included.)
What it will eventually need mechanically:
The 4WD will need to be connected. I had the transfer case professionally rebuilt / re-sealed but I never hooked the 4WD back up as I didn’t use it for off-roading. Needs alignment (paperwork / assessment included.) New heater box (included), exhaust manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, transmission fluid leak needs addressing, oil pressure gauge needs to be reconnected, dash lights needs troubleshooting (tried the fuse but that did not correct the issue).
Additional Parts Included:
Headlight bezels, hood insulation, original “Jeep” branded fog light covers, grille insert, original Jeep product brochure from 1988 in mint condition, and the lighted Christmas wreath to go on the grille during the Holidays.
